SLA@WSU tour of the Allesee Dance and Opera Resource Library at the Michigan Opera Theater!
All LISP students are invited to attend the SLA@WSU tour of the Allesee Dance and Opera Resource Library at the Michigan Opera Theatre on Thursday, February 12th at 4:15 pm.
What:
The Michigan Opera Theater Archive is the official repository of the Opera's forty year history, as well as home to the beautiful Allesee Dance and Opera Resource Library - specializing in research materials specific to dance, opera, and related performing arts. Students from the IMLS cohort have developed a unique online archival catalog designed specifically for the MOT and created the first searchable database of all MOT performances. Several students from our LIS program are involved in management and digitization of materials, photographs, and audio recordings in a production environment as well as cataloging numerous library items. The digitization process and state of the art tools like Archivists' Toolkit for EAD encoding will be demonstrated – see behind the scenes of how this library is set up.
